Dude, you share a freakin' birthday with Sun Ra! Fifty? Fifty?!!! Mathematically astute folks like me are not surprised, not in the least, but then I've already been and (nearly) done fifty. Geoff, to think I had never really played poker until I met you. The things we learn in grad school. I hope you are having a wonderful birthday and I was glad to celebrate briefly with you last night with cake and Shultzy fries. It's been over 7 years now that we have known each other and I am so happy for the mentorship, and most important, the friendship. Your birthday is sandwiched right between my brother's (31 on the 21st) and my mother's (70 on the 25th), so there is something in that May air that helps make my favorite people. Happy Birthday!

An evening of non-stop Beatle music performed by dozens of local bands.

Plus a special guest from Liverpool, England: Geoff Nugent of The Undertakers. Geoff was a personal friend of The Beatles, and his band The Undertakers often shared the bill with them in the early 1960s. Geoff still performs in Liverpool today.

Pittsburgh is the birthplace of August Wilson (April 27, 1945-October 2, 2005), who authored Two Trains Running and Fences - Geoff has designed lighting for both. And apparently there is a Geoff in Liverpool who also loves the Beatles.

Hard to believe its been just over 10 years since I was sitting offstage, underneath a set of exit stairs, listening to your voice mail telling me that I was accepted to CalArts. If only I had known what that really meant. We only got to be master and student for one year officially, but oh what a year. You taught me that RGB does not solve all your color mixing dilemnas, what worksheeting actually is, that hand drafting isn't for me, that you CAN make it to Vegas in under 5 hrs- with a radar detector, and the top down- that craps isn't as confusing a game as it looks. That a theatre community is as important, if not more important than a theatre company, because we are in one those strange businesses where it's good to do business with friends. I'm glad and fortunate to be able count you as mentor and friend. Happy Birthday, buddy.

Pac-Man is back. And to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the classic video arcade game,Google has unveiled its first-ever interactive doodle – a Pac-Man game that Web users can play straight from Google's homepage.

On May 22, 1980 the now-iconic Pac-Man game was released in Japan by Namco Bandai Games. Originally called Puck Man, Pac-Man launched in the U.S. in October 1980 and went on to sell more than 100,000 units in its first year of production.

The name of the game comes from the sound of eating, according to the official Pac-Man website. "Paku" is the Japanese sound for "chomp."

Now the game is listed by Guinness World Records as the world's most successful coin-operated game.

To help recognize the pop culture mainstay, at 11 a.m. ET today (midnight in Japan), Google turned its homepage over to a Pac-Man game that can be played for the next 48 hours.

Visitors can click on the "insert coin" button or wait 10 seconds to automatically start the game, which reaches 256 levels.

SB#2!!! Happy Birthday! It is odd to be 50. We formed the Soul House in 1981, almost 30 years ago. Creed says that dancing is a lot harder now with those adult diapers, but it is safer when you put your butt through the front window. Things I remember include: Driving to the Pantry and Flower Mart in the 1957 T-bird at 5:00am; the great old Korf House with 5 cats and that wonderful fountain with fish and the first Beta VCR and the stereo chair; taking the picture of the family on the 17-mile drive with your leaping in the background; reading Feder Stories at Polly’s and drinking gallons of bad iced tea; Fairy Jokes [“I want my pee Nustufalov.’]; switching signs at Farrell’s with the soup of the day [‘Horse Hair Soup’] and your laughing at ‘midgets with hammers’; your magical lighting of ‘Midsummer’ at Rio outside and your scavenging lights from everywhere including the lights off my truck; the endless varied venues throughout Southern California for your Cornerstone productions; over two decades of Frisbee golf at La Mirada Regional Park – I really miss that; the wonderful visits with great meals as you pass through the Bay Area; a 1960 Taylors’ port!! It is great to be 50 with you, I bet you don't feel like you are 50. It just seems like a few years ago that you and Mike and I shared the soul house and brought such joy and happiness into this world. Oh, the parties we had!! Oh, the schlitz we drank!! What's the big deal? Its just a number, ok it's a BIG number. If you live to be a hundred you are only in your middle ages. Only 50 more years before Willard Scott announces your name on TV. You are right around the corner from collecting Social Security---if there is any left. Due to your age people look up to you. In about 20 years people will help you do minor tasks. In about 30 years you can say whatever you damn well please---oh wait you do that already!
